Magic Jewels QuiltMagic Jewels
Triangle patchwork blocks are fun; there are so many totaly new designs possible. Two different triangle blocks join to form a folded star in this design. The light stars in each of the blocks recede to become background. I sure wish I had a quilt design program for the computer when I worked on Trouble-Free Triangles. Illustrating these for the publisher and class handouts was a lot of work on graph paper.

I often begin a quilt by playing with some of the design elements on the flannel wall. Here I started with two groups of Thirtysomething units. (For more about Thirtysomething units click on the link) I came up with about 30 different arrangements of these units. I took pictures as I went. I used a pair of mirror tiles to reflect the pictures. I put this one on the computer to work out the details about the edges of the quilt and how many blocks I needed.
