Fran Snay

Fran says this about her quilting: I have  been quilting for 10 years but for 5 years it was a hit and miss. I am definitely one of the "hooked" quilters. I am never idle and when not sitting at the sewing machine, I am doing applique. I have taught classes, served on the board two years for the Trinity Valley Guild of Fort Worth, TX. As well as the Cleburne Area Quilters Guild, Cleburne, TX. for 2 years. Organized a new guild "Johnson County Quilting Guild," Joshua, TX.

I also do programs for others guilds and churches. I am currently booked with the San Francisco Guild in April 2000. Will be doing Clinton, Okla. in November and the Arlington, TX Guild in January 2000. I do a lot of workshops in my home as well as the Bee to help others and keep the interest of the Art going

My joy of quilting is sharing each and every idea that I learn with new quilters as well as the experienced. I have pulled a few things from the computer but none that are finished projects. My favorite thing to do is taking old traditional patterns and turning them into something exciting. I accomplish this with exciting colors, and wonderful fabrics that give movement to the pattern.

This quilt hung in the 1996 Houston international Show. It was an honor to have it accepted. In 1997, it won a ribbon at The Dallas Texas State Fair. The vastness of 'Gods Infinite Universe" inspired me to create this foundation pieced quilt. The pattern is a Sharon Stone foundation pieced pattern. I really enjoyed putting this together as I love to see what I can create with color and fabrics.

FranSnay's Pineapple Frenzie

"Pineapple Frenzie"

This was truly a challenge to create using several fabrics to get all the colors I wanted for this quilt. It has been entered in the 1999 Houston International Show (do not know if it has been accepted to date). I do it for fun and the because I learn so much from their intricate critique. I just wanted to get crazy with this because this old traditional pattern is wonderful to play with. Having visited Hawaii many times, memories of beautiful sunsets, wonderful pineapple fields and flowers all came together in my mind. Thus I began to drag out my best and most colorful fabrics. Results were wild! I was truly a excited when this was finished. I did not know if I should call it Hawaiian Sunset or.". ?
