Attic Windows Quilts

Perspectives in the Attic Windows Quilt

There are many ways to put an Attic windows quilt together. A straight setting is very traditional but sometimes your fabric calls for something less traditional. Make the windows different sizes for a different look.

Off-set Attic Windows
As you can see from from this setting when you flip the 1/2 blocks the perspective changes. Now it looks like you are standing towards the middle of a large window looking out.

Frank Smith on the Attic Windows pattern:

The Attic Windows Quilt attached was made when my wife came home from the SC quilters retreat last year with an uncompleted drawing of a pattern from a class given by Laura Chapman on Drafting Attic Windows in Perspective. After several flailing attempt on paper to complete the drawing, I got to Quilt Pro and made short work of completing drafting.
As it turns out this pattern was not in true perspective but she liked it better than the correct way since it showed the window display with bigger windows. The aqua windows were made of material with fish swimming while the horizontal fabric pieces had the look of an old stone fence as the print and the vertical was a basket weave print. Once more I pieced the top and my wife added the borders and quilted it. The small purple border was used to bring out the same color in splotches in the fish print.

Shanes Quilt...

Baby Shane's QuiltThis quilt is one I made for my nephew Shane when he was born. He is now 6  years old and I'm told he still loves it.
